How the calculation works.
Where the labour figure comes from
Vehicles per day × minutes per inspection × operating days gives annual inspection hours. Multiplied by your fully loaded hourly cost, that is what visual inspection costs you in labour today.
Why 80% and not 100%
Automation removes the walk-around, not the operator. Someone still reviews flagged findings and handles exceptions. The 80% reduction is the manufacturer’s stated figure; the field is editable so you can model a more conservative case.
What is deliberately left out
Detection quality improves — the manufacturer states a 25% higher damage identification rate — which normally converts into recovered damage costs and fewer disputes. That is not counted unless you enter a figure yourself, because it depends entirely on your contracts and current recovery rate.
What is not included
Duty, VAT, local electrical work, annual service and any integration effort on your side. Those are quantified in the quotation, not here.
